Bonus: a short story

A real-life example of two different types of students I taught personally: one student was scoring distinction for a subject whereas the other student was struggling. The major difference was their attitude and personal motivation towards their learning; the student that did well had an active pursuit of good grades and personal responsibility, whereas the struggling student’s attitude was passive – leaving her studies into her tutor’s hands – and was distracted. It helps when a student takes an interest in their subject.
